So the hen I figured was egg bound seems to have worked her self out. I came home today to a dozen (all I have) happy chickens.
On to problem #2 let them all out and noticed one of my RIR hens sounds like she has rocks in her throat. She's really raspy and coughs. No discharge or anything from nostrils, looks/acts completely healthy but has a raspy cough.
I can't win!!! suggestions?

Sometimes mine do that in the extreme heat. I usually don't do anything.

Since birds aren't designed to urinate, nor sweat, they get rid of excessive moisture through their lungs. I am guessing that she is just overloaded with heat/humidity - so much excess moisture that she is gargling.
Gape worms are typified by the bird just standing there "gaping" for air since the worms attach themselves to the layrnix.

Anything out-of-the-ordinary should be questioned. Better safe than sorry. Keep an eye open for any other symptoms, such as nasal discharges, unusual droppings, labored breathing, coughing/sneezing,etc. I am sure I speak for everybody here when I say "We all want everyone's flocks healthy."

Things are definitely not getting better. Started Sulmet for all birds on Saturday. They are coughing/sneezing, a couple have clear nasal discharge. Droppings look normal other than some being a little watery, but I figured that might be the heat.. Last night I noticed one has swelling around her eyes, her eyes look clear, just the area around them is very puffy. I snatched her up and have her quarantined. No change with her this morning.
Should I switch from the Sulmet to something different or just give it a few more days? Any injections I should try?

Swelling around the eyes is the clincher. Did you have them on sulmet before Saturday or is that when you started?

Started it on Saturday. I thought that it might just be the heat. But this definitely not heat.

I did get some Duramycin at lunch just in case someone thought I should switch to it. But I'm going to hold off until I get some feedback.

If you see no or very little improvement by tomorrow- check
Symptoms? Watery eyes Facial swelling, including one or both eyes swelled shut Foul smelling discharge from the nose Diarrhea Low egg production Wheezing
Infectious Coryza is caused by the haemophilus paragallinarum bacteria, older birds are more susceptible than young ones.
The most common signs of this are facial swelling, including eyes swollen shut, with a fowl odor from the nasal area.
Streptomycin Gallimycin Sulfadimethoxine

I do not have Tylan. But I think TSC does and I'm just right down the street. So I can run by and get some. What dosage should I give if not improved by tomorrow?
Symptoms: -Gargling noise when breathing (several hens) -coughing occasionally (several hens) -Droppings look normal other than some being a little watery (but I do think that is the heat) -Egg production is hard to gauge, we built a run on their chicken coop this weekend so they were free range a majority of the weekend, and while several laid in their nesting boxes I caught a few laying in the yard. I had a bout 6 eggs out of 10 in the boxes.
-(One hen) Swollen eyes with no discharge, they are not swollen shut. And when I left this morning she was eating and drinking fine but her eyes were still swollen.
And of course the hen with the swollen eyes is my ONE brown leghorn. ugh.

Make sure you complete the Sulmet to see if it worked
Tylan 200
1/4 cc in breast for 3 consecutive days for adult size birds. 1/8 cc in breast for 3 consecutive days for bantam sized birds.
OR
Tylan 50
1/2 cc in breast for 3 consecutive days for adult sized birds. 1/4 cc in breast for 3 consecutive days for bantam sized birds.
Make sure you angle the needle so you inject just under the skin, and not deep in the muscle tissue. Make sure you inject in a different spot each day.
You should see improvement the next day OR it's very - not good

I think I'm going to go ahead a give the leghorn the injection tonight and see if the Sulmet does the job on the rest.
