I love the new board and the time you took to develop it. It will be a wonderful addition to our other club site. I know it costs money to maintain, so how much do we need to donate and how do we do it?

Thank you. I was up until 3am this morning working on it. Well we are going to see how everything goes first. I'm just experimenting with it to see if anyone is going to use it and like it. I can handle the basics right now but if everything goes good. We will have to add more space for photos and post. I am going to add more moderators also.

Hi! I saw your flyer (well my husband did) at R & J Feed and thought I would checkout your forum. I'm completely new to this whole chicken thing. I just got my first hatch of chicks last Wednesday. I'm sooo glad that you started this local forum and I really look forward to any shared information. Thanks for taking the initiative to get this thing started!

I ordered mine from Cackle Hatchery out of MO, very nice and helpful people, I highly suggest them to others. I was probably one of the first live shipments of the year and needless to say last weeks cold snap was not particularly friendly to my small order. They refunded my loss and instructed me on how to medicate the rest to give them a little pick me up.
R & J has a Poultry ordered list available at the register for you to take (just ask Ginger). They are starting to receive shipments this week and every Wed. on out till May or June. If you are looking for something in particular I highly suggest you run by and get one soon. They have already ordered a limited quantity of certain breeds and you have to put down a deposit for the chicks you want and be put on a list for pick up. I'm picking up a few in the morning to replace what I lost in the shipment.

I probably see you at R&J. I get most of my feed and supplies there(I'll be there this afternoon). I'm the one they call the egg lady.

THis forum is so far superior to the yahoo tech group. What do we have to do to migrate more members over here and increase activity?

Brand new here and glad to have a regional forum! Are there any plans to add an egg pricing forum? We have our chickens first to feed ourselves, and second to feed our neighbors and after that, anyone else. Price is a delicate issue and definitely has minimums and maximums by locale. I can get $5 a dozen for our organically raised/pastured/free range hens' eggs all the way over in Memphis (3 hour drive each way), BUT here in our little town where PigWig sells eggs for 1.88 a dozen for factory farmed eggs, we can't compete. We break even at $3 a dozen feeding certified organic feed..any input from anyone would be great! We end up selling at a loss just to keep our inventory fresh. We are hobby farmers, so don't understand the game of selling at a loss then claiming the loss on tax stuff.

Wow! Now thats a good Question. I don't know. I can add a section for selling eggs for eating. There everyone can post the eatin eggs they have for sale and location. MAYBE that can give you an idea of prices of others and what they average. Will you open a new thread in the chit chat section with what you posted above. Maybe other members can help you better than me. Ok i opened a page for eating eggs to be sold on. Thanks for the feedback and help.
