Goatlady, My hen is so happy with the eggs. ;D We were watching her this morning and she stood up then, a couple of the eggs rolled out. She used her beak and rolled them back up under herself. We can't wait to see what happens. I will keep you informed. Gayle

Hey everyone, WE HAVE CHICKS !!!! ;D Today was the day we had marked as the hatch day and wala, they are hatching as we speak. I ended up with 9 eggs that looked like they were 'full' with babies. We now have at least two or three that have hatched. Mama hen is talking away. We are sooooooo excited! This is the first time we have ever hatched eggs. Thank you "goatlady"! Does anyone have any tips on how to set the pen up for mom and chicks? She is in a 3x6 or so pen. She has a small dog kennel inside that with the nest in it. How do I feed mom and chicks and make sure they are getting what they each need? Do I need to remove the shavings from the pen for a while? I've heard that the chicks don't need to be in shavings at first. Any thoughts would be great! Thanks, Gayle

Shavings are fine for them. Feed the mom and chicks chick starter. she will be fine that will help give her some extra protien.
