First I have to say I agree with Crystal Lake...coops are addicting! I currently have 4, in various states of completion, lol. Even before I finish one, I am thinking about the next one, or how I can make a coop out of something I find on the curb. Drives my wife crazy, but I love making things out of reclaimed materials.
Anyway, I finished my new chick brooder coop today (Tuesday actually). I built it to replace the blue Rubbermaid we used for my current (and first) laying flock purchased last summer. The difference this time around was two more chicks I couldn't resist, and 8 chicks in the rubbermaide was a wee bit tight as they started growing and became more active. Dimensions are 2x4 ft by 2ft tall. Moved the girls in today and they LOVE it. It's so much more fun with the chicken wire front...they can see out and we can see in. I swear it's like watching T.V. they are that entertaining! I especially like how the chicks sleep on the ground...don't know why it fascinates me so I just think they are especially cute all stretched on the ground willy nilly.
I suppose you all will want pics, but that will have to wait, maybe til I have built the stand., but at least until I have better than cell phone pics taken.

I obtained a book of coop designs. I can bring it to the next swap for anybody that would like to check it out to look at for ideas if you like.
There are some really cool ideas in it form fancy to servicable coops. Which is more of what I have are servicable.

For the life of me, I still can't figure out how ya'll are posting pics directly viewable in the forum, so I have to do it this way...just click on the links to see the pics. skitch.com/auto5man/8w1bk/dsc04908skitch.com/auto5man/8w1y1/dsc04909skitch.com/auto5man/8w1bd/dsc04910skitch.com/auto5man/8w1bx/dsc04911skitch.com/auto5man/8w1bi/dsc04912Took pictures of different angles. Most of it was made from scrap pine I had laying around, gonna have to sand that black stuff off (was from getting wet, boards were laying out in my backyard). The part that wasn't scraps was the tongue and groove pine got a six-pack of those boards from Lowe's for 11 bucks, I love that stuff! Anyway, hope you enjoyed the pics, it turned out really nice. Still have some small details to finish but the chicks sure love it. I started building the stand today, which will be more or less kinda like a coffee table (about 18 inches tall, 2x4 ft) made from pine that the brooder will sit on top of. I don't really work from a plan, just start off with the rough dimensions and start building, I work out the construction details as I go along... Dave

You click on "REPLY" at the bottom right of the last post. Then click on "Choose File" on the second line. You choose which pic you want to send and click OK.
