I had gotten two (2) Ameraucana pullet chicks to raise to keep when I got my little BO chicks in early March. I went out this morning, Friday, May 4th, 2012, and planned to move my two little pullets in with the regular layer population. To my surprise, the Ameraucana pullet I kept thinking was going to be so beautiful with a black head and bluish-grey body with hints of cinnamon on the body....well when "SHE" raised up, stretched out her neck and had the deepest little CROW you ever heard on a 10-week old "pullet" was I ever surprised.
I kept thinking that she was certainly going to be a beautiful addition to my layers and what a great head she was developing. Now I know why!
So on our meet/swap next week on May 12, 2012 at TSC in Jackson, not only will I have the then to be 11-week old Buff Orp pullets to sell but will be adding this great little roo in the mix as well. I have 17 of the Buffs and then this little roo. Am I ever disappointed! But knew that it was sure getting pretty hackles that just seemed different but thought myself lucky with such a nice pullet!
See you all next weekend! Bring lots of water for yourselves and your birds...it has been hot this week.

Had that happen before. You should have no problem finding a new home for him.

He is going to be really pretty...he was crowing his head off this morning before I left for church. He has a black head, bluish-grey body with some brown streaked feathers. I am not sure how much to ask for him yet...but he will definitely be at the sale in Jackson on May 12th. His beard and ear tufts are looking good too, that is why I was sure hoping HE was going to be a beautiful pullet/hen! He was sexed at Ideal Poultry and I got him at R & J Feed and his hatch date is March 5th so on May 14th he will be 10-weeks old. I was off a week before when I counted...thought it was a week older.
