Just an update: We now have 3 goats, Daisy May, Lillie Beth and her baby John Peter. Lillie is my dairy goat and I have been milking pretty much once a day, and will soon begin milking twice a day because John Peter is getting to be a big boy. I expect to get about a half gallon of milk each day. I have no idea if that is good or bad. That's more milk that I can drink. They are such wonderful creatures and have so much personality. I may have to get more

Goats milk soap is just wonderful. If you had the time to learn how to make it with scents added to them I would buy some. Right now I have some stockpiled. I trade eggs for them when I can. If I could get it locally it would be much better. I like it better than store bought soap and it smells so good too. The oil-based home made soaps smell like oil but the goats milk is so much better. I got an oatmeal lotion from a lady when I had poison oak and I rubbed a little on the spots and it went away after weeks of using calamine lotion and Everest. I even went to the doc and got a shot for it.
I traded for a book o how to make the soaps if you ever want to borrow it just let me know. I dn't know when i'll ever find the time to learn how but I plan to one day.
Oh, one more thing, the ladies sell their soaps for 5.95 a bar for regular sized and 3.00 for small bars.

I have been either drinking the milk, treating the dog or giving it to friends. I don't think I can legally sell it for human consumption, but I'm sure I could take donations . I sterilize everything with both bleach and boiling water and I pastureurize the milk. I may try my hand at soap making one day and will definately be interested in your book, chow. Timbo, my little buck is very pretty and is almost pure nubian. His mother is registered and is 1/4 Alpine and 3/4 Nubian. His sire is pure Nubian from Hagler Farms, so he should have excellant lines. We left him intack for that reason. If you need to borrow him, let me know. He has been handled and touched every day and he is very friendly and tame. He will be 4 months old at the end of this month, and if I understand correctly, that's close to breeding age for bucks.

These will be for sale. John is 7/8 Nubian and 1/8 Alpine. His mother is 3/4 Nubian,1/4 Alpine. His sire is 100% Nubian from Hagler lines, which I understand is a good line. Now I don't know about Daisy. She was our first goat and we bought her at auction. She appears to be at least part Nigerian Dwarf. These babies should be good milkers.
