My OE hen started sitting on her 9 eggs on July 3. Will the extreme heat that we have been having effect the eggs? Will they hatch or is my little hen wasting her time?

Well dont think its a waste of time. I have 5 hens sitting on eggs right now so hope they do ok. the cooler weather coming should make it easier for them. I just keep water close by for the hen.

Thanks. Makes me feel better. Someone had told me that the eggs would not hatch if it gets over 100 before she sits on them.

I really try to dissuade my girls from sitting in the hot weather, they need to find ways to stay cool and sitting on a nest is not one of them.

I've got mostly silkies and tryig to get them to stop sitting is nearly impossible. I can take the nests out and they'll sit on the ground. I put them in a separate cage and when they get put back in their pen they go right back to the nest. I have 1 I want to bring to the show but she insists on sitting on nothing. The other hens lay eggs right by her and she don't roll them under her but when I put my hand in to get the eggs she bites me. And she's normally very sweet.
