I was checking out The Turtle Mans website and I saw where he will come to an event. I was thinking it would be a good idea to invite him to the Chickenstock when we have it. I know that would draw in more people to attend and could get us more members and sales at the same time. It is probably better for us to plan it next year either before it gets hot or after. It's just too hot to hold it in the middle of summer. It's hard on us and the animals. I'm sure that having him attend to a show on how to handle wild animals would be both educational and profitable.
This Chickenstock would require many of us to pull off successfully. I know most everybody is an hour away and farther so if we held it just for one day like a saturday would be better on the members. But I still want to have it last the weekend. Start friday and end sunday evening for those that are traveling a distance and wouldn't come for just a day. We have the room and shade here. I plan to advertise once we decide on when to have it.
I want to make a pinjuata filled with candy for the kids to have a game and other games need to be had for prizes. I have been gathering items to have as prizes and door prizes. I would like to have a prize for the person that traveled the farthest also. It would be nice to hold a poultry show also. Another idea is to grill out and sell to non members. Those of us that have other items to sell that is farm related could do so at their area they set up to sell their live animals. We have an area on one side of the large garage that can be stalls to hold goats or whatever would need an enclosed area instead of a cage like the poultry and rabbits would.
Next year would give us more time to get those stalls finished and finish our pens. I figure those of us that have websites can advertise the Chickenstock with the schedule of events and we can put out flyers, post on craigslist and where ever else we can advertise for free.
My idea on the Saturday would be to schedule Turtle man earlier in the day then the poultry show in the afternoon or early evening. Meanwhile the games would be going on with the help of the members.
I've always got ideas. Bobby and I have been wanting to have a Chickenstock here for a couple of years now. We just have to get things in order around here. This place was a mess when we moved in and it's taken 10 months so far to get done what's been done. I figure by next year we'll have it all in order.
So, what do you all think?
