Goats will do well on practically any hay type. You might try a hyrid Bermuda or lezpedeza. As long as it's clean and dust ffee they'll be happy. Checkout. Www.thegrassfarmer.com. I buy from him every year and have always gotten quality stuff.stiffness

I got a few bales for Gemma and myself. They originally came from a guy in Middleton and are $2 a bale. I am trying to get a trailer to get more this weekend. If I can't, I might take you up on a roll or two. Does anyone have an idea how much hay I will need for 3 goats? I'm planning on at least a bale a week for up to 6 months, maybe longer.

I think we made it through the winter and used less than a roll for our two pygmies.

I am either going to borrow a trailer and go to Middleton for the $2 hay or, I can get it in South Jackson(not sure exactly where) for $3/bale tomorrow. If it's close enough to me, that may be my best bet. I could make a couple of trips. I believe I could get about 12 bales on my truck.

Put 25 in the back of my full size truck, if its tight bails . Get better quality hay most of the time in bails. I payed 45 a roll last year it was good hay . 3 $ is a good price for mixed grass hay .

A;right, I have spoken to the guy in Middleton and he has to come to Chickasaw stables on Saturday and is going to bring the hay. Pretty cool, since I am only about 5 miles from Chickasaw. He even said i could hook up to his trailer and haul it to my house. Pretty darn nice of him. This is mixed grass for $2/bale. I plan to get about 50 bales, so if anyone wants some, let me know and I'll tell him to bring more. You can either get it from my house or straight from the park. Oh, and thanks so much ellis, for the offer. It is great to have good friends who offer help.
