I now have a 4th hen join the other 3 at being broody. If anyone wants to set some eggs, I will trade her services for a 50# bag of chick, layer or goat food. I would also take a couple bales of decent hay.

I had 8 broodys at one time not long ago. I broke 4 of them by moving them to different pen and 1 I brought her in to get her ready for the show. She hasn't gotten back on the nest since she got home.

lol, I have had up to 12 broody at one time. Talk about some grouchy hens. This is a little late in the year for that many, but I suppose the hot Summer temps may have had something to do with it.

I usually have somebody broody all year round. This past month has been horrible on my egg sales because of so many broodies and those that aren't broody are hardly laying. The quail are pretty consistant but they even slowed down a little. I had somebody wanting some eggs from the splash silkies and they all went broody at once. When I moved them to a different pen it broke them and one hen is now laying. I need all of them to lay.
