There was a man that lived across the street that raised some sort of chickens he said came from Portugese. He discovered that fighting them in this state is illegal and was tired of the law showing up at his house. So he gave and sold them. He gave us one and it looked alot like that one in the pic. Bobby gave it away also because we don't need any mean roosters around here, much less a fighting one. I don't remember who he gave it to but when I did a little research to find out what it was the closest I could get was an Asil. But Herb would know for sure
He'll pass along and identify it.

It's a myth that gamefowl breeds are mean. Some of the breeds are the most people friendly there are. Mean is a human trait anyhow.

It's a myth that gamefowl breeds are mean. Some of the breeds are the most people friendly there are. Mean is a human trait anyhow. This guy fought his unfortunately. And he was a mean man. Are they like pitbulls. Only mean when forced to fight but friendly to people? Well, alot of roosters don't have to be forced to fight when faced with another rooster. Even my silkies have a tendancy to attempt to fight other roos thru the wire when I let a pen loose. I don't let more than 1 pen loose at a time. The roos fight over territory here. When I did let 2 pens out at a time but one on each side of the yard and one violated the territory line he would either get chased back to his own space or they would fight and I would have to go and break it up so I don't let more than one out at a time now. But since that darn Hawk got one of my paint hens they haven't gotten out at all.
