Well, the horndog is moulting like crazy. I've got him entered in the show too. I sure hope he grows them feathers back in on time. I think I may enter another one just in case I can't take him for too many pin feathers.

At the Memphis show the splash was moulting and wasn't up to what he really is but he still won. I think it helped alot that the judges wife loves splash silkies. lol

I won't be able to go, but I would love it if someone could bring some chicks or eggs back for me.

Oh, and about the torn/worn feathers, pull them out now and start feeding DE. I notice feathers on my chickens grow back quicker when i feed DE

I've been giving mine poultry conditioner. I gave them their initial bath and grooming. I need to buy some pet nail trimmers because I can't get their claws trimmed down to where they need to be with regular clippers and I can't find the pair of clippers I used to use. My roo is loosing feathers by the handful everyday. I'll start him on the DE tomorrow. I won't bother to bring him at all if he has too many pin feathers. He still appears to be very handsome but the judge will be handling him and not just looking so I don't want him to feel like a porcupine.

I have one of those pedi paws where you can grind the nails. You can borrow it if you need it.

I broke down and bought some pet nail clippers at the dollar general. It works great. I've had Jingles in the house now for 2 weeks along with the roo thats going to the show and she has really filled out and looks good. I just brought her mother in yesterday and gave her the first initial bath. She was none to happy about it either. Now Jingles is showing her around the house like she owns the place. She's eyeing the cat now because she's helping herself to what I gave the hens for a treat. In the pic, Jingles is the one posing for the camera while her mother is in the background looking for something to get into. Jingles was the first chicken I put in a show. I also had a partridge hen named Fancy Pants but i've since sold all my partridge except for the sizzle hen. Attachments:

You can tell the difference between one that has had Poultry Conditioner and one that hasn't. Jingles feathers are so shiny and full where her mothers are dull and not so full. Only 2 weeks of adding about 3 tablespoons to her feed every morning. I also gave her Vita-Pro B and E Lyte concentrate with for her first week inside. Oh and a bout a cup of meal worms a week. Thats not all in one day. I give a little in the palm of my hand every couple of days. They love it. I also give them 1 boiled and chopped egg every 3 or 4 days. I get my meds and vitamins from this site. www.firststatevetsupply.com/I get the Terramyacin from TSC. The one for goats unless you can find it for chickens. The probiotics from First State Vet Supply are much better than the stuff you get at TSC Just a little info that may come in handy Attachments:
