Well, I left them as long as I felt I could they were beginning to gang up on the chicks that were hatching. Waited until the last one hatched and then scooped the dry ones out. I have 22 in the brooder, 3 drying in the incubator, and 8 eggs left. One of the eggs has a tiny pip and I rolled the others around through the vent hole with a skewer (LOL!). Didn't see any pips on them. I am just going to wait and see with those eggs. Don't you think late tomorrow will be long enough to see if they are going to hatch?

I've had chicks hatch as much as 3 days after their due date. Unless I have staggared hatches which I usually do I'll leave them up to 5 days. Never had any hatch past 3 though.

There was one that had pipped yesterday, but hadn't broken through the white egg shell membrane. Now that membrane is yellowish and doesn't look good. When I candled yesterday, I could still see the air pocket, but it wasn't as nice and round. Couldnt see movement, but not sure i would as the egg was REALLY full. The incubator STINKS, don't think it's the eggs, just the funk in the water from the other chicks. I am going to leave them a little longer. Was hoping for some more. Although 25 babies out of 33 isn't too shabby, I don't think.

Holy moly! I just picked an egg up to candle it and it peeped at me! I quickly shoved it back in the incubator! Good grief!

I had 4 chicks hatch out of 7 eggs. I candled them and there is still one with movement so I put it back in to "cook" a while. They where due yesterday so I either have a weak one or a late bloomer

That 5th egg hatched while I was gone. Good thing I candled them before tossing them out.

They are a mixture of babies. I had about half of my hatch from my hens (2 dominicers, 1 buff, dominicer rooster), the others are fertile eggs from a friends father who has no idea what he has. Only 1 from my 7 left hatched. Not sure what happened with the others. I was to chicken to open them up, but there was "stuff" floating in the air sack. Checked on my broody and lifted her up. Her eggs are peeping. So EXCITED! I will try to post a pic of my babies and see if you guys can figure out what they are.

Well my broody has hatched babies! We had 4, but one fell out of the nesting box and died because it got too cold. I made the executive decision to move mom, babies, and unhatched eggs to the coop floor in a dog crate with food and water. I figured it couldnt be any worse and i didnt want to lose any more babies. She was so patient as my husband held her. No squawking, pecking, or anything! Moved all the eggs and 3 babies then put her back on them. She calmly tucked everyone under her and just looked at me like, "now what." What a sweet, sweet girl! Was so nervous and excited I forgot to even count how many more eggs were under her.
