I didn't make it to go get them after the show. Hopefully I can find time soon to make it back up there. Eatting late lunch then going to put more siding on barn. I have got to get it to where I can move my birds out of garage.

I know what you mean. I have all my quail still in the garage and when I finally get them out I have a huge mess to clean up. Yuck!! Tomorrow i'll be moving them into the outside pen. Thats my plan. Bobby has a brother and sister n law in the hospital. One got put on life support today and the other is in Vanderbuilt in Nashville with tubes draining infection out of his insides. He has anurysims by his heart that make surgery nearly inpossible. They also found cancer in spots from is brain to his liver. The sister n law has COPD and she can no longer breath on her own, she also has cancer that they just found. So....I may or may not be moving the quail tomorrow. It depends on what happens overnight.

When it rains it pours. His sister n law came to tonight and they took her off the life support but said she could relaps at any time.
What kind of birds did you get or need to go get?

Black silkies. My black rooster has split wing. So he will be sold off as a pet. Still nice bird but breeding for shows. Oh well. Back to the drawing board lol. I did get all siding put on today and now gotta wire it and build pens. So much work and so little time.

I know, it seems the older we get the faster time goes by. Just not enough time in a day to do everything we want to do
I'll be working on hatching black silkies next. I'm wanting to get a few girls to replace a few of mine that aren't producing all black. I want to have a pure black silkie pen where I know the chicks will be black so I have to do the breed back thing. I know that Jungles is the hen that produced that partridge chick. I won't be hatching anymore from the splash pen because I have the 2 pullets I wanted to add to that pen. As soon as the finishing touches and testing of the incubator are done i'll be hatching mostly quail and guinea. On one shelf I'll have orps and any fertility tests eggs and the black silkie eggs. It has 5 shelves.

Bobby came up with the idea to build pens on the other side of the big garage where there are open stalls.. They will have a house built on the inside of the garage where I can feed and water then and collect eggs. We'll use PVC pipe as feeders and water systems. The water supply will be fed in thru the PVC pipe and attach either the water cups and/or water nipples and heat tape the pipe for winter. The pipe will go around to each of the houses in the garage and the cup or nipple will be at each pen. Then another larger PVC pipe will be cut in half lengthwise and hinges put on it so it will open so I can fill it with feed. On the other side there will be a hole they can get the fed from at each pen. It will hopefully keep the mice out. I can then safely put sticky traps out to catch the mice. On the outside he will cover with wire and cover the entire ground in a thick layer of sand. In summer it will be alot easier to put fans on them to keep them cooler and in winter their runs can be covered up. They will be out of the north wind and the south west storms we get. Their houses won't get wet if it blows in rain from the south west or north west because they will have a roof over them and they can get in their houses too.
My brainless juvies sleep outside their coop in the rain and even stay outside in the rain in the daytime. I have to go in and put them in the dry coop and close their door to keep their crazy selves in where it's dry.

It's called barn siding. Got it at Home Depot for $15 for a 4x8 sheet.

This is looking from other end. I got it leveled out today and put fan in. Also set 2 more poles the dividers in the pens. Getting closer to be able to move everyone in and make it easier on me. I am also going to make a gutter system to save water in a 55 gallon drum to recycle water for the chickens. Plus have over flow going to a drain Attachments:
