I had something unusual happen this morning when I went to the barn and maybe someone can shed some insight. I was fortunate enough to come across some of Golda Miller's line of Jersey Giants. The chicks are right at 2 and a half months and when I was checking their pen this morning I found a still warm HUGE egg. I guess that its possible that an older hen got in with them and laid it but its unlikely. Has anyone ever heard of a pullet laying at 2 and a half months? I dont think its possible.

I would put my money on a wayward hen. The earliest I have had one begin laying is at 4 1/2 months.

Thanks rinksgi, that is what I am thinking too. It hasn't happened since. I thought that I was about to be knee deep in eggs! Lol.

That's 2 young but if you can verify the pullet laying you can probably get a slot on Leno or Letterman. lol

Herb, I could probably get a slot on there now. This place is a mad house and the animals here get into more stuff then any 50 rabid monkeys ever could. Rinksgi, I have had them lay at 4 months also before but that is really rare and mine usually dont start until a good bit later, 6 months or so. These birds are all in a flight pen built for peacocks and since we have cats I am always watching what goes in and out. I think that a hen got in there when I opened up the door and slipped out some way or another. I will keep you guys posted if it happens again.
