I have a Guinea hen that is sitting on probably 40 or so eggs. The other 4 hens are steady laying and she's sitting on them all. Should I just let them alone or what? My incubator still isn't ready for eggs and I have no idea which eggs are the new ones to remove them.
I had to replace the element because the other one was like a coil spring looking one and it melted onto one of the quail rails and ruined the rail and the element. I put in one that came out of an LG but I can't get the temp over 92 degrees. I guess i'll have to add another one like it. When I had the coil element in there the temps wasn't stable in the cabinet. It was to high at the top and too low at the bottom. With this new element the temp is more stable but it's not enough to get the temp to where it should be to incubate eggs.
So........what should I do about the hen with all those eggs and more getting added every day? I don't have an empty pen to put her in by herself. And I'd prefer not to take the rest out because i want to be able to find the eggs when I get my incubator ready. I'm sure thats what i'll have to do though but I wanted to see if anybody had any advice before I let them out

She is in a pen that I can't get into. I have to use my reach pole to remove the eggs. It would be a huge ordeal everyday to check for new eggs. My reach pole is actually what is used to retrieve golf balls. The eggs will go thru it so I have to get them in the round part on the end and pull them thru the dirt to me. I'm afraid it would be too much for eggs being incubated.
I'm afraid if I switched the guinea into one of the pens I can get into they would get out the door around me when I went in. I could always move Freckles to the 2nd grow out pen which is a cage actually. He is in a coop by himself right now.
You think the hen would still sit on the eggs if I moved her and them to the small coop? Then I could leave the Guinea where they are and just move the hen. I could move Freckles to the other grow out pen. I just wonder if I move her and her eggs if she will still sit on them.

Well, I didn't have time today to move the hen like I was thinking to do but I did open the pen door that they are all in. The hen stayed on the eggs and the other Guineas hung out close to the pen but they did come out. I need them to take care of these darn ticks. So my plan to hatch out a bunch of eggs may be halted unless they keep laying under the hen. She tossed out some eggs today. I suppose they are either infertile or bad. Tomorrow i'll get Gavin to help me get in there and move her and the eggs she has now to a pen for just her and the keets when they hatch. The other hens I suppose will still lay in that pen. I'll open their door during the daytime and lock them up at night so nothing gets them.
