They where at the door when I opened it. They are so funny. When I get at the quail cages they are underfoot waiting for me to drop them some eggs. They almost always follow me around as I tend to the other chickens. When Buddy sees me he comes running. He's ran into me a few times because he came to a sliding stop. I've learned to listen for him if I don't see him when I go out. I'll turn around real fast and he stops sooner. He is a real character.

I don't have one thank goodness. I had a red sexlink hen that would peck at the door. I think she was part goat. She would eat anything and seemed to always to be hungry. At night when I would close them up in their pen her crop would be huge. When I brought out treats she whould do her best to eat them all even steal right out of the other hens beaks. She would jump up to try to get what was in the bucket before I dumped it out. These Orp hens are almost as bad about it. They're crazy about quail eggs. I give them the ones I don't keep for hatching. You know if the shells aren't good or they are too small. I sat my egg baskte down to collect sizzle eggs and as soon as I bent down to reach an egg that was nearly out of my reach they went for my egg basket and stole a few quail eggs. lol

I'm planning to hatch out some orps this winter. I'll sell the girls in the spring and send the cockerels to freezer camp unless somebody wants any. They are nice big birds and with people wanting egg layers in the spring I'm hoping to have a head start to supply some.
