Ok folks. pics. Who won what? Who got the big one, champion? I just hate having to miss a show. It's been on my mind all day. I actually pulled up all the green bean and purple hull peas that has played out today. All I could think of while I was doing it was the show I was missing.

I don't remember seeing the Ohiki before. Is this the first time He's shown it? Maybe it was at one I missed. I missed nearly them all this year.
Just a reminder. The ST Jude auction at Buck Creek Camp is friday 9/27. I'll be taking several silkies.

Oh yeah I remember him now. He's so handsome. I was thinking an Ohiki was more like the game birds that stand tall like Herbs. I don't know how you all tell the difference in alot of the breeds. To me many of them look alike to me. This guy is similar to a Phoenix from afar but I'm sure there are alot of differences once seen up close. I know the Phoenix has a long tail. I had some but He wasn't the best quality I was told. He did have a long tail. Before his last long tail feather got pulled out it was just inches from being 3 foot long. I stepped on one and it got pulled out and with getting caught on stuff he ended up with no long tail feathers. He was a real sweetie though. I named him Sir Charles and his "wife" was Fiona. I got a pic somewhere of him. I'll go look.

I was looking for a white Phoenix and this breeder I found online from California has many pics of different birds. He has some of those long tail birds Tim has too. I an't think if their name right now. But anyway, He tole me that he was working on a project and he had one of the very few Onagadori that where brought here from Japan years ago. He was mixing them with Phoenix and called them American Onagadori. Well after about a year of getting bashed by a selective few that insisted that he was no Onagadori and there was no such thing as an American Onagadori. This person even posted a paper online to virally dispute the fact that there are no Onagadori in the United states. Me being loyal to the breeder instead of listening to other breeders expert opinion I was unable to sell any eggs because people would do their research before they bought. And they always found that paper. So I traded them all for a bunch of quail. I couldn't even sell them. I contacted a Phoenix breeder and she told me that my roo was a phoenix and not a good quality one at that. I was so upset over the whole thing. This was about 6 years ago. I still love the Phoenix and would love to own a white one but have yet to find one that is reasonably priced for my finances.

He's sooo pretty. One day i'll have me a white phoenix roo. I like the bantam size, That one looks bantam, is he? If you get any white boys you don't plan to keep, keep me in mind. When I get one he is gonna have a special pen where he can spred out and roost up high. Have you seen those boxes they keep the Onagadori in? It seems a bit cruel with no space to move to but it keeps their tails undamaged and up so they don't poop on it. Just search for Onagadori house and you'll find it. A phoenix wouldn't need one so tall. They are similar to a wooden coffin that stand up thats altered with screen where the perch is so they can see out and get fresh air. Thanks for posting that pic, It gives me hope I'll have one some day
