We hope everyone made it thru the ice storm ok with little to no damage. This cold weather has been brutal on keeping waterers thawed out. We took hits by falling limbs to three of our pens with no loss of life. 2 of the pens are repairable but our largest pen took a hard hit damaging it beyond repair. the birds in our 2 fixable damaged pens were moved into the garage until everything repairable is repaired. We had to combine some breeds to make room for the birds from the large pen. I hope it warms up some soon and give us some relief. Everyone stay safe. Sent from my SCH-I545 using proboards

Sorry to hear about the damage. I was afraid it would happen here but we got lucky. The worst thing was trying to get to them without falling on the ice. I had the bright idea of using the tiller to break the ice. It worked. We made paths to the pens so I wouldn't end up with any broken bones from falling. The ice was 3 inches thick in most places and thicker in some. With the girls steady laying egg sales has been pretty good. I just have to get to them before they freeze which I've done so far.
The tiller is a good idea if we get ice again. It's gonna warm up during the day time but nights are gonna be freezing for another week from what I can tell.

Tim hope you recovered from storm . Hard to build new pens when you keep having to fix the older ones .
