Well, I thought I had pics of what I use but I don't. I have 2-20 gal aquariums and a large clear plastic tub I use. Dpending on how much heat they need I either use the top with florescent light or I rig a heat lamp to attatch to a low shelf that will just reach inside the tub and cover the other side with one of those screens that you would put in your window. The expandable ones ancover that with a towel to keep heat in. As they get older and need less heat I raise the lamp higher and expand the screen so they can't jump out and cover just the one side with a towel. With the aquariums I hook the heat lamp onto the screen edge where it is in the aquarium and lay a pizza pan over the top of the lamp them cover it all with a towel and leave a small spot open for ventilation. When the chicks start to move away from the light I put them in the one with the lid and florescent light. If they still need heat i will hook a heat light with like a 40 wat blb in it inside for extra warmth. It all works for me. I don't put chicks outside till they have feathers. So I have alot of cleaning I do also but I don't mind. I'll work on getting some pics.

This is my current hatching set up. I do have 2 20 gal aquariums that I also use and one is in use with quail right now. In the picture is the hovabator I use as the hatcher and the brooder is right next to it. It is as you can see a large plastic clear tub with the top that has been cut out and is just a ring now. I sit an expandable screen over the top on one side and lay a towel over that to hold in some heat. As the chicks grow and don't need the heat I just expand out the screen to cover the entire top. There is a square dowel that is in there when they are ready to roost. I have it attached with screws on each side. When the chicks grow big enough and I put them out in a pen I take the brooder and put the whole thing in the bath tub and fill it with hot water and pour bleach in it. Let is sit and clean out and let it dry. ready for the next time. I do clean out the bedding of course every couple of days. I have a huge roll of that lining that goes under laminate flooring that I cut to fit as the bottom liner and I then put paper towels down and sometimes I use wood chips. When it's time to clean all I have to do is roll it all up and toss it and lay more down. Very simple. Attachments:

The heat lamp is attached to shelves. I have them at 2 different levels for different ages and the need for heat. On the aquariums I attach the clamp so it is between the panels of the expandable screen, lay a pie pan over it then a towl over it all. I leave a corner open for ventilation. It will produce alot of stinky humidity real fast with alot of chicks. Attachments:

I use blue tote tubs with a 1x4 screwed to the top at 1 end about 8 inches from end with porcelain light fixture and a metal light box and a elect cord attached to it and anchored to the 1x4 I use 2x2s cut to fit in the bottom and the put 1/4 inch hardware cloth on them I place news paper or feed sacks under the wire so the droppings and wasted feed is on the paper when I get ready to clean just roll it up the use water hose and wash the tub and the wire bottom out after disconnecting from the electricity I use the tub top to help keep heat in I just do not shut all the way up as they get bigger I move them to wooden brooders that I have made I do have pics in the photo albums on the WTCC and the APC under 4 grands photos
thanks james

I wonder about plastic melting. I used a large black waterer and hooked the lap on a table next to it but the tub melted. How do you guys avoid fires and melting?
