Does anyone have experience incubating duck eggs? We have one in the incubator with some chicken eggs and it pipped yesterday and is rocking and rolling and talking some, but it hasn't made much progress. I can hear it tapping on the egg trying to get out. It rolled and I can't see where it pipped anymore, but I'm not sure that it has been able to get a hole in the membrane. The humidity got up to about 45% at one time but has since dropped to about 35%.

if it hadn't broke out after a day(24hours or more) of pippin we always help them out.

I'm scared to do too much with it because there are other eggs in the same incubator. I did get it out last night to make sure it had a hole in the membrane so it could breathe. I read a bunch of stuff about the membrane drying out so I wet the exposed membrane a bit with warm water. It is still alive-I can see it opening it's mouth, but it's not as noisy as it was yesterday.

We now have a duck flopping around the incubator! It and the chicks are laying all over each other. One more chick trying to hatch and one egg that looks like it's not going to do anything.

Thanks Mike and Tim. We stuck it and the chickens it hatched with under a silkie who has been sitting some eggs. They are doing great. I love watching the silkies when they have babies. Even the rooster watches over them and acts like a little daddy.

The little duck is now almost as big as it's "mom" and can't fit under her anymore. It sure is cute watching it try to curl up under her wing to sleep, though!
