are they the ones that lay the dark brown eggs . thought about looking into getting some .have any thing bad to say about them

They do lay the dark eggs. No, have nothing bad to say about them. My rooster was very good and never got aggresive with me or my family. Gina is the Cuckoo Maran expert and has a wonderful stock of them. She can give you more details about the breed standards and anything else you need to know..

Hey! I'm listed as rinksgi on the board. I absolutly love the breed. They are large,laid back chickens and lay large dark brown eggs. They love being mamas. They are great layers,but I've noticed they tend to take about a 6 week break in the dead of Winter and may take longer to begin laying in the first place,but when they start, they lay good sized eggs. I have a hen setting on eggs now,so I should have some chicks in a few weeks
