I was not aware my pullets might start molting this early. I see some feather loss but not from any problem as I see it. It seems like there are soft down feathers coming in behind some of them that are molting. Is is common to have 9-month old pullets molt in the early stages of winter like this?

I have a cockerel and a pullet just starting to moult. All my EE's moulted just before it got cold and still have one that hasn't gotten all her feathers back. I'm thinking it all depends on their age. Not sure about that but it seems nature wouldn't be so cruel as to make them practically maked in below freezing temps. The ones just starting to moult are just about 3 or 4 months old.

Well some are really starting to lose some feathers on each side of their tails around their backs. I have dusted and treated EVERYTING including birds with DE just in case but still I have some that seem to be molting and even taking out their own feathers in one or two cases. HMMMM...makes me wonder...!
Thanks for your help, Mike

Did you recently change feed, especially protein content?
