I just got some new hens and they looked kinda wormy so I used some Ivermectin paste. I heard somewhere that it was good so I figured I would give it a try. So far so good. The hens are pooping worms like crazy. I'm not sure on how long I should wait on eating the eggs though. I read that 14 days is safe for most wormers. Any ideas?

2 weeks should be ok- however remember to reworm in 10 days. Then wait 2 more weeks.
I always cook the eggs and hop them up to feed back to birds

Herb I read three weeks I also read that FDA is now saying if you ever use ivermectin you should not eat the eggs. I use natural wormer which does not mandate that you can't eat the eggs. Vermx

THe FDA had also approved the active ingredient in Ivomec for human treatment of lice.

I'm pretty sure ivermectin is used to treat parasites in humans in some countries.
I'm not suggesting feeding it to them every morning. But 4-5 drops on a piece of bread every few months isn't going to hurt them or you. Vermx is from the UK which is not regulated by the FDA. Granted it's probably not hurting anything. If you read up on it, It's basically a bunch of herbs. Which just might or might not be doing anything at all.
Garlic, Peppermint, Common Thyme, Cinnamon, Echinacea, Quassia, Tansy, Cayenne, Fennel, Cleavers, Nettle, and Slippery Elm all mixed together. Yum, makes my stomach hurt just thinking about it.
I personally would prefer a "organic" way to worm my chickens as well. But in the end I want what I'm taking the time to do to actually be working . So I vote for ivermectin. I've talked to too many people who have used it for years with no ill effects.
Just don't feed it to your sheep dogs.... that's another thread.

Vermx is also from the US. I have been getting it for over two years now. If you call them they can/could give you info. As far as ivermectin for lice they are not internal so I can see where they would be ok although I wouldn't wnat to use it. Everyone has to do their own thing. I prefer the non poison way as long as it is working whcih I had a horrible outbreak a few years ago. It was ugly. After the Vermx they were gone.
