Ok. I've tried hatching out two different sets of bantam cochin eggs. The hatch only had 3 cochin eggs in it. Only 1 of the 3 hatched. Second hatch had 7 eggs, 4 never developed (I think they got too cold before I collected them), the last three fully developed but never hatched. What am I doing wrong???

Also, in the last hatch, of the dozen developing chicks I had nine hatch out. The only three that didn't hatch were the bantams.

What kind of bator are u using? I would say inconsistent humidity. But not sure, considering the Cochin's are the only ones not hatching. It could be a genetic problem, tho i haven't heard of it happening in a long time. I tell you what if you'll bring me a dozen Cochin eggs that r less than 12 days old, I'll stick them in mine and see how they do.

I would agree with Timbo. What is your humidity level? I usually keep mine low, between 30% and 50% for the first 19 days.

I don't have the answer myself Pam, but sorry for your disappointments. Hope you get it like you want it to be with the wanted/needed results! Just offering moral support...

I am using a forced air little giant. I don't usually put water in it until about 3 days before they hatch and the humidity usually stays around 45 before then and 60 after.
I only had one hen that was laying and she's stopped on me now (they are all pretty young hens). When they start laying this spring I might give them another shot and take you up on that Timbo.
Mike- It's ok, I have lots of other little babies to keep me occupied! I need to make sure I can house the ones I've got already anyways.
Thanks guys!
