Well on the count down for 15 in the bator. Anxious to see how many really make it. Some had been under that irresponsible hen outside and don't know how much good she did. Any way got those in the house and about six outside under mom that should hatch any day. I know she will be glad..She has done a great job. She a Orpington. So now I wait anxiously.....

cks-we went into lock down last night with 41 in the bator. It was 42 until we started smelling an awful rotten egg smell a few days ago. Wouldn't you know, it was the last egg we checked when we were trying to find out which one was bad. Good luck! I don't expect all of these to hatch, but goodness even if 3/4 make it that's going to be a bunch of little babies running around. The fun part is we don't know what they are-we got the eggs from a friend. I can't wait to see what hatches

We have 17 out of 41 hatched (last I checked about an hour ago), and let me tell you, it's a little noisy in our house right now! So far all but 2 are black. Looks like lots of cochins-standard and banty-and Sumatras. Maybe a couple of barred rock or dominique. They aren't dry and fluffy yet so it's hard to tell their markings. Some look like sumatra but have fuzzy feet, so I'm not sure what they are. Can't wait to see what else hatches

We are now at 32 hatched. One pipped but didn't make it. Eight eggs left with no activity. Wow, that's a lot of babies!

I lost alot of eggs while I was gone this past week. Egen had some come missing from under broodies. Most of the bob whites show movement and only 2 jap bantams made it. 7 SQ silkies didn't make it, The air cells where too big and nobody was here to add water. All 2 bators where bone dry when I got home. After candling I ended up with 1 bator of eggs when I had 3. Thats alot but it couldn't be helped. I was at the hospital with my grandson in Memphis at LeBonheur. One guinea keet was trapped with it's "knees" in the holse between the wires. I have no idea how long it was there but it was alive when I got home. After I got it loose and got it some food and water it lived a few hours. I got to it too late. Somebody had opened the top of my grow pen and left it that way. Luckliy nothing ate them. I had 8 ducklings on one side and the guinea keets on the other.
Somebody was suppose to be feeding and watering them but I got home and everybody was out of food and water. I had 2 chicks under broodies when I got home and the bob whites are hatching. The 2 jap bantams are due for lock down on the 2nd.

I've had about 20 of the GG bob whites hatch the past few days and 1 jap bantam. I left the other GG bob whites in the hatcher and the other jap bantam. Hopefully i'lll get more. The next lock down is due on the 7th and it's the sizzles from my flock. Somebody owes me cortunix eggs from another site's swap thread but I doubt i'll get them. I'm trying to swap some sizzle eggs for more JB cortunix eggs and or RN pheasant eggs. Since I have 1 jap bantam as of now i'd like to have more to make sure I at least get a pair out of them.
I know I can't trust my brother n law to take care of my chickens again if I have to be away. Usually if I have to be gone DH takes care of them. We never to away for longer than a few days. Now that it's hot we can't go for more than a day.
