We went outside today and noticed one of our OEGB hens wasn't feeling well. Her face, eyes, waddles, and comb (everywhere that is red) is starting to turn white, she has scabs all over her little comb, and she has major poopy butt. When you pick her up she snuggles down in your hand and goes to sleep. Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong? The only thing we found about her face turning white is that they will do that when they don't feel good or are laying too much, but we are only getting about 1 egg a week from her, and just got one yesterday so we don't think that is what is wrong.

What color is her poo? and consistency? Have you wormed her yet this year? And could she have gotten into any fertilizer or chemicals, bug killer, etc. What about any mushrooms growing? I lost a rooster to a poison mushroom. Is her crop soft, mushy or hard? Does she have any swelling around her vent?

Not sure about the poo. I saw her crusty booty and it didn't look abnormal. We have not wormed them in awhile. She is eating, but I had to give her baby food because the laying pellets seemed to be a bit much for her to eat. We did have some antibiotics so we gave her a shot and she seems to be doing a lot better now. I'm not sure about her crop-I'll check it tomorrow. We had some mushrooms awhile back, but I haven't seen any in awhile and we just mowed a few days ago so there definitely aren't any now. I don't know of anything that she could have gotten into (poison, fertilizer, etc), and nobody else is showing signs of feeling bad. Here is what she looked like when we caught her this afternoon. I'll check into it to see if I can find anything. The antibiotics may have worked but with chickens by the time they show sickness you have to figure it out pretty fast.

Here's what info somebody sent me. I hope this helps You could start in the direction of Fowl Pox (the dry kind). I was looking for a picture, maybe you can find one on this site. Here's a description anyway. www.firststatevetsupply.com/content/view/20/37/Don't see where diarrhea is a symptom anywhere. It could be there is more than one thing going on with her. White comb, dark scabs, it could be as simple as internal and external parasites with other hens picking on her just because she's not thriving.
