This is one of the prettiest Americana's I have seen. Obviously carrying the blue gene. His mate another one just like him is just as pretty. I hatched these out memorial day and the lord was so good giving me a rooster and a hen this beautiful. Just wanted to show you how pretty they are. Now I want some lavender and blue Americana to see what I would get with breeding them to each other. What do you think Tim? Attachments:

I have a question. Have any of you that raise ameracauna's ever have the cockereals turn mean? All that I raised from the parents I used to have always turned mean when they got breeding age. And I mean they would run after anybody and attack.
I'm just curious.

all of my ameraucanas have jest hit breeding age . i have 3 roos that i will be breeding with hens . the one in pic and i have one that is a calico , and one that is black and gold i cant wait to see what all colors will come .I'm going to put all my blue hens in with the one in the pic it will be some time before i will have any to sale . all that i have at this time for sale is 3 ameraucana roos one is a blue whiten. all have come from good breeders the last 13 chicks came from a man in Henderson tn that shows his birds i payed 4.50each for day old chicks . that's where all my blues and blacks hens came from the roos I'm going to sale. i leg band all of my birds so that i don't inbreed anything . as for the roo's getting mean i have 3 that are at breeding age and have not had any problem at all we pick them up and pet all the time my 4 yr old plays all around them to .

My Ameraucana roo, that I have had for two years, is fine. I will tell you I have had mean roos. I finally started going into house in the evening and holding them. I pet and talk to them and I do this for a while. Do not let them wiggle out of your arms, if they do go pick them up. If you are in a smallish space they wont get you especially if it is nite when they can't see well. If prince starts to get cocky I start right in doing that with him and he settles down. Also I do not let my roos ever breed one of the hens while I am out there. I just think it lets him know I am the alpha. The best thing to do is handle them. They need to know you are the boss. That is not to say there are some which can not be rehab'd.
