I'm looking for some input from somebody familiar with this breed. I only have this little rooster. I remember the judge at the show back in Sept saying that Japanese Bantams have really short legs and thats one of the main things a judge looks for. If I remember that right. This little fellow I got as an egg. The breeder has shown the parents. She said he's a black tailed buff. He turns a year old in April. So what do you think about him. Does he look like he is show quality? I don't know what he weighs. He's lived in this pen most of his life and hasn't been handled much at all and doesn't appreciate being handled either. If he is show quality i'll have to get him out and work with him. I looked up the breed but it's always nice to have the advice of somebody I can have a conversation with besides reading articles. Thanks in advance Attachments:

I do remember the judge talking about the long legs and comparing to photos of others the legs are a little long. But that's my opinion only and i would try to show it anyway.

I thought his legs where too long but wanted others advice. I do remember him talking about some hatching with no legs because of the short leg standards some end up deformed because of it. I think i'd rather have them with about the length of this little guy instead of chancing deformities. I can get more eggs and try for shorter legs but I don't think I will.
I'll most likely show him anyway just to get the input from the judge. He's a handsome little devil. His mate which is a barred oegb laid her first egg today. I've been fighting with myself not to stick it in the incubator. First eggs usually don't do well anyway. And I really really need to stop hatching so much.
