cold in the eye?????????

went out this morn to feed and water............noticed that our rooster (Root) looks like he has a cold in his eye he would not open it at first then got him to but looks like theres puss or something in or over it shakes his head a lot............. any idea what to do???

My little banty Rooster had something similer. He had gunk in the eye and a death rattle in the lungs. I thought he was a goner. I went to TSC and got Duramycin-10. I believe it's a utility antibiotic. It worked But there might be something better that I don't know about. I hope this helps.

Bad news richie, isolate the bird. Tylan would be best.

Herbs right, tylan is pretty good stuff if you don't mind giving injections. But it sounds like you have a pretty bad infection going on and probably need to give an injection. Ultimate fowl Wikipedia has pretty good instructions on dosage. But I'm sure herb could tell you as well. I think its 1/2 cc for three days under the skin for standards and 1/4 cc for banty. But check that. Cleared up my girls problem back in august.
