I was out letting the girls out and my dog starts going NUTS. I at first thought it is that darn cat but I looked up and it was a BIG, FAT possum. Just meandering by walked pretty close to fence about maybe 20 ft, even as I was yelling at him!!! then he goes under the pasture fence to the pasture next door and into my neighbors barn.... I think I will as the neighbor to put out my traps to try to catch him. Yuck they are disgusting!!!! If only I knew how to shoot a gun he would have been dead.....

Well leave the trap set sometimes the human scent will keep them from coming to it. Ur scent will fade away and they will eventually go after it. There nose makes them cautious but eventually their hunger makes them stupid. My father-in-law is the one who told me about using honey bunns dont know why they like them but they do. Dog food works good also. cks4me where are you from?

We use dry cat food or table scraps in our trap. We lost two chickens a week or so ago and thought it was the neighbor's dog, so we called animal control and got a dog trap. We didn't get anything for a few days, then I went out one morning and there was a big, fat possum in the trap (caught on wet cat food). We usually keep ours out all the time, just in case. We usually end up catching possums or stray cats. Of course, we do catch a chicken from time to time, too
