I have my first broody hen....and she is a Guinea. I have one problem. She is moving every egg laid (by my Welsummer and Guinea hens) to her nest. At first, I though the others stopped laying because she was in one the connected nests. But today, I caught a glimpse of her nest/eggs when she got up to get some water (for about 5 seconds). She is sitting on 20 Guinea eggs, and 15 Welsummer eggs. I tried to get the chicken eggs out of the nest, but I quickly learned how mean a Guinea can get. What should I do? Since the Welsummer eggs will hatch 1 week before the Guinea eggs, will she give up once the chickens hatch? Any ideas?

Wow, I have no idea, but I've heard that they will set on a large number of eggs and don't seem to know when enough is enough.

Yes, I have heard my Mother talk of years ago when she was a child in the 1920's that her Mother had Guineas and they often set a very large number of eggs, often several hens laying in one nest then one good broody and set them all. I don't know for sure, but Herb's advice of removing the chicken eggs seems like sound advice.
