My name is Mary Simmons and I have been raising my dream hens for one year now! I have had about a dozen different hens of various breeds and lost all but one to predators. Specifically, a local cat. I ramped up the security of my coop and run and have had no more losses since. My hubby buily me a wonderful coop and I Currently have a Red Star, a Black Jersey Giant, 2 Barred Rocks, a Blue Wheaten Ameraucana and three 5 week old Buff Cochins. I am a Homeschooloing Mom of 6, with just 2 still at home. I love camping and kayaking. Hope to meet you folks soon!

Welcome Mary !! ;D
Sorry your chickens were taken. Glad that is better now. I am also a homeschool mom. I have three boys and all are still at home. I have 5 Rhode Island Reds and 5 Barred Rocks. All supposed to be pullets ( time will tell). They are only 3 weeks old. Hope you enjoy the site. I am new but, the others here have already helped me a lot. I am also in the Millington area. (Rosemark)

Welcome Mary. I live in Hornbeak. No kids at home but seems always a grandson or two. I have silkies, sizzles, pekin and swedish ducks with hopefully more real soon. Got pips right now. I also have a pair of mottled oegb's and a black orphington roo that I have dried desperately to get him some girls. I finally have some chicks that he is now waiting to grow up to keep him company. Not any hen can keep company with Blue. He's a mammoth of a roo. I also have Jumbo brown cortunix and in the incubator there are Georgia Giant Bob Whites, more silkies, more bbs orphingtons and guinea. Oh, I have 2 adult guinea left after the storms and 1 ring neck pheasant chick, he other eggs didn't hatch.
Along with a porkie puppy and a black cat and the house chicken named George which is a hen.

Mary, My boys are 9, 11, and 15. They are a blast !! When life gets to much I go hang out with my girls. For some reason the 10 of them tend to give me less stress at times. I think my girls (chicks) are relaxing. Life seems so simple when I am watching the girls run around and seem like they have not a care in the world. (except on the occasion where they beat each other up) Gayle
