Last week the ducks would go nuts so Bobby would go out with the shotgun and it would run away. One night he caught it. It was a wild dog doing it's best to get in the duck pen for a midnight snack. Unfortunately it went to doggie heaven with an empty stomach. He was going to take care of the body in the morning and he would have if something else hadn't devoured it. Then we lost a few birds to a coon which hasn't been caught yet. It's been spotted but not stopped.
What i'm curious about is what would have devoured that dog. It was a big dog too. Any ideas. I heard a scream of a bob cat back before it got hot outsude. It was in the yard too. My yard. I haven't heard i since.. I heard thru the rumor mill that somebody let some panthers loose to cut down on the coyote population but could't find them all.
Does anybody have any ideas what would have torn into that dog carcass so badly?

Probably coyotes. That would be my guess. I do believe there are panthers around. My hubby is sure he saw it one night.

My fiancee has seen a panther once or twice out hunting but coyotes are more likely to be your culprit

I was on the porch having my last cigg for the night when I heard dogs barking like crazy. I instantly thought of my birdies next door. I went out the side door to have a listen to see if I could hear the ducks but no noise from next door. This morning all was well thank goodness. yesterday but just couldn't do it. I have no idea how he's gonna get the coop over here.
I know there are coyote around because I can hear them. Does a panther make a loud noise kinda like a mixture between somebody screaming and the squeeling of tires? If so, there is a panther around here. It's been since spring that I heard it but it was in my yard by my coop. If not it was a bobcat. I know they're in the area too. I heard that bear are here too but I haven't seen any. My nephew got one on his gamecam a few years ago in fulton KY.

Well, whatever it was has moved on. There hasn't been anymore problems. Thank goodness. We've got most of my birds moved over here. We have the pens that have to be taken apart then rebuilt here left to do now. Hubby and I used dollies to move the quail and banty's here. Well the smaller birds anyway. My silkies, sizzles and orphingtons are still over there. Oh and the ducks. We still have to dig a new pond and fence it in for them. They will probably be the last to move. We plan to get the coop here next. Hubby's boss is going to bring his tractor over to move the coop. It's the largest one. I sure hope they don't tear it up in the process.
