I've joined the easter hatch along this year. i've got 175 eggs set. I must be insane. No really i'm sick, I'm really sick. I need rehab. Where do I go to kick hatching?

I'm with ya chowdowns, I've got a full incubator and more eggs going in every day! Seems like for every chick that hatches I've got 2 more eggs waiting to go in....
Oglesby, I don't follow the hatching guidelines as close as I'm supposed to. I take my chicks out after 12-24 hours and I open it probably twice a day to put in eggs or check on chicks but I make sure its not open more than a minute or two. I didn't loose any last year, didn't hatch many either though and I've only lost 1 this year out of about 2 dozen. I don't think it had anything to do with opening the bator, the egg developed but never pipped.

Ok i was wondering how that would work because they can only last 48 hrs without food or water. i knew i would havve to open it eventually to get em out and i was crossed up because its like well do i see long these will make it and let the others hatch or get the birds out and hope the others hatch. Thanks again

As long as nothing is peeping out of a egg you should be fine . Some hens get of the nest to eat . Should be ok I open my bator alot but I look in before I open it . Found out the hard way its like shrink rap when the cool air hits the open eggs
