Best possum recipe I've got:
Soak a 1" thick cedar plank in hot water at least 1-2 hours Kill, skin, clean and dress the critter Add your favorite spices/seasonings Bake for 2-3 hours in a 350 degree oven (or over hot coals) Throw the possum on your compost pile and serve the cedar plank with veggies of your choice.

After losing 4 chickens I caught a nice big possum last night. I thought we had killed them all since we hadn't caught anything for a month. We went out of town and put the trap up in case we caught some chickens. Oops. That ugly thing won't be getting any more of our chickens after my husband gets home tonight! Tim, we've never used honeybuns in a trap but they like summer sausage!

We normally wouldn't have any but my husband got some last year and had it with his hunting things. Found it awhile back and it was growing stuff on it, so it became bait

Well i have managed to lose all but 9 chickens this week to some animal. Traps are set and rifle and spot light are proped up againest the window in the back bedroom facing my pens. I'm fed up and declaring war. I'm hopeing to put out trailcams tomorrow but pretty sure its a coon or opposium. They have destroyed my pens. Its on like donky kong.

That's horrible Tim. I know how you feel. Let us know if you figure out what it was. I think it was a dog that got into my coop. It just killed all of them and tore a huge hole in the chicken wire. My husband knew how distraught I was and got me a few replacements this week for Christmas. But we are about to reinforce the bottom of our coop with hog wire.

So sorry, Tim. Good luck catching the culprit. I pulled up today and heard the chickens going crazy-I figured someone had just laid, but went to check anyway. Right as I rounded the corner to where the coop is I saw a hawk swoop down from a tree into the pen. I scared it off, but it stayed around for awhile. I was really wishing I didn't have neighbors and was a little more gun savvy. It was definitely within shooting range. Maybe the possum wasn't the only thing getting the chickens.
