Out of the last 50 sum odd chicks i've only lost 1. I never name a chick till it's several weeks old. One of my mother n laws aids had to bring her daughter with her one day and she fell in love with a beautiful black silkie chick and named it Dottie. It died about 3 days later. It's bad luck to name a chick to early. Well, for me it is. They die everytime. Maybe I shouldn't have kept the name.

When I got home and was told she named it, I thought Oh NO. But I watched and sure enough. I lost it. It was so fluffy too. Another possible show bird.

I've got a 3 yr old grandson and he's always wanting to hold the babies. I let him pick up and hold the older ones and teenagers but not so much with the babies. They squash to easy to take that chance. I have pics of him taking one for a ride on his power wheel. She just sat there and enjoyed the ride. lol

My polish chicks that hatched on Christmas. Pretty cool because last Christmas I had 3 silkie chicks hatch and 1 was in the show in Sept and got 2nd place. I wonder if I have any little winners here. Attachments:

I have a project planned with the polish. I'm gonna put a sizzle with a girl polish and make a cousin IT. I'm sure it'll take a couple years to get what i'm trying for but I have the time. There'll be alot of little "knock off" cousin IT's before I get what i'm looking for so you'll see some at swaps in the future.

I had 5 eggs make it to lock down and 3 I doubted would do anything. I was right, they didn't. I had 2 hatch out of a dozen I started out with . Shipped eggs of course. They where paint and lavender. I had 1 of each hatch but the paint looked pretty puny and it didn't make it 24 hours. The lavender is puny looking too but not as bad but it started eating today. Unfortunately it's always chirping and I don't have any more chicks to put with it to keep it company or a broody hen.Poor baby. We wrap it in a wash cloth and hold it a while but if it's not eating or sleeping it's chirping. I knotted an old sock and put it in with it and it will lean against it some. I think i'll put the little tiny fuzzy bunny in with it tonight to see if that works better. Makes me wish I had gotten that stuff that gives chicks a boost I saw as TSC this weekend. Something told me to get it but noooo do I listen? Of course not.
